Does Ascend need my Instagram password?
Not for the AI. Ascend works from public Instagram data, and a DM code proves the account is yours. On the Growth Plan, you log in to Instagram yourself, on a dedicated phone set up for your growth assistant.

What Ascend sees
Ascend reads your account’s public profile and public Reels every night. That fills your Profile page and lets the chat talk about your account.
On Free, Ascend checks your account for 60 days. On a paid plan, it checks for as long as your plan runs.
It can’t see anything private, like your messages or the stats inside your Instagram account.
What if my account is private?
Ascend only works with public data, so it can’t see the Reels on a private account.
For the Growth Plan, a public account matters even more. With a private account, people have to ask to follow you before they can see your Reels, and many lose interest.
The Growth Plan login
Your growth assistant works from a dedicated phone, never your device. To connect it, you log in to Instagram yourself.
- After you finish setup, Ascend asks you to connect your Instagram. Tap Prepare my device. Ascend sets up a secure device near the login location you chose, so Instagram sees a login from your area.
- When it says Your device is ready, tap Connect to the device. Its screen opens right in your browser.
- Log in to Instagram like you would on your phone. The connection window stays open for 10 minutes.
Once you’re connected, your assistant reviews your account. Growth activity starts within 24 to 48 hours.
If your account gets signed out
Sometimes an account gets signed out of its device, for example after a password change. The Growth page then shows Logged out. Tap Re-Login and log in again to keep your growth running.
Not sure what happened? Ask your growth team in Messages.
Can I keep two-factor authentication on?
Yes. You log in on the device yourself, the same way you would on your own phone, so you complete any security check Instagram asks for.
Never share your password or security codes in a chat or an email, including with us.
