Introducing the all new Ascend. Read the announcement

Why does Ascend ask me to DM a code?

To prove the Instagram account is yours. Ascend gives you a six-digit code, and you send it to @dmascend in a DM from that account. It’s required on the Free plan and optional on paid plans and the trial.

Updated

How to send it

  1. Tap Get my code.
  2. Open @dmascend on Instagram, from the account you added.
  3. Send the code as a DM.
  4. Come back and tap I’ve sent it.

The code works for 10 minutes. If it runs out, ask for a new one.

Link it later

Skipped it during sign-up? Link your Instagram any time in Settings, under Profile, then Instagram DMs.

What linking turns on

  • Sending Reels to @dmascend, so they show up in Saved. How that works.
  • Hide me from discovery, in Settings under Privacy.
  • On Free, using Ascend at all.

What linking shares

Linking only tells Ascend which Instagram account sent the DM. It doesn’t give Ascend your password or access to your account. Ascend only keeps DMs that contain a Reel.

If it doesn’t work

  • Send the code from the same account you added in Ascend. The username has to match.
  • Use the newest code, before it runs out.
  • Typed the wrong username? Go back and change it.
  • An Instagram account can be linked to one Ascend account at a time.
